Christina Crawford

I was flown out to L.A. to be the "expert" backing up Christina Crawford on her new book Survivor.

In this book she is talking about a Near-Death Experience that she had when she suffered a severe stroke. Her after-effects were typical of anyone who had an NDE so, it was an easy role for me to play.

All those "debunkers" who would like to prove that nothing happened to us – should just listen to how we change, how our whole life changes as well as our attitudes and values.

When Christina explained how her stroke came about I was appalled. It seems that the media were cruel to her after her first book Mommy Dearest. They made her life a living hell. We now know this is typical of the media and of most people too.

Most people don't want to hear the truth about child abuse and trauma. It's too painful to think about.

But for we that have suffered it, that denial of the people around us is what Charlie calls "Retraumatization."

We were traumatized by the original abuse, then we weren't allowed to express our hurt, pain or loss at the time.

Finally, when we grow up and try to express it, we, like Christina, are attacked or denied our memories. I think Christina is a brave and very articulate woman.
